Jim Wangers

November 26, 2009

Adam and Jim Wangers talk old school GTO and move into the future with the Jim Wangers Signature Edition Judge GTO. We fire up the 680hp Injected Pontiac and listen to the music. Adam and Sandy pickup some phone calls and find out that sometimes we get the shaft when it comes to cool cars, bubbly tires and dealer trouble all add up to some good conversations. Then onto celebrity cars with Comedian Richard Belzer.

Love it. Im 25 and have mega respect for these older guys that made motorsports and muscle cars what they are today. Incredibly fascinating to find out what was behind these iconic cars. Like the mix on the show keep it up!

Aweome podcast! I was hoping you’d have Jim on sometime. I got the sense you guys just touched the tip of the iceberg as far as his stories go. I’d love to hear more from him some time. As the owner of a ’68 Goat, I find it so interesting to hear directly from someone who was deeply involved with the scene in it’s heyday and had a hand in creating a car that I hold near and dear.

this car and a woman in daisy dukes, what a combo plate. BTW, adam was too much of a gentleman to talk about wangers’ hair rug.

Hey Guys , The reason that you don`t get a lot of Euro & Japanese cars is is you`re highest R.O.N. readily available GAS is 91 .a lot of Turbo / hot small cars require 98 or better otherwise they have to DE tune them to a point that they are not so hot anymore. Down here in Australia we`ve been able to get 98 for a few years now . And since then a lot more cars have been made available.

great podcast guys! All the history, and that goat is amazing!! By the way, is it just me or does Jim Wangers look like the “Fat Man” from Boondock Saints?

Thanks for all the good comments, I was taking a Blog break or I would have jumped in sooner. We do try to hit the new and old. It’s oddly tougher to find some of the more modern people then some of the ‘old timers’. I will say that about every ‘old timer’ we talk to is working on modern current projects from the greats folks like Vic, Gale, Steve, etc. Guys like Mo’ from Ford was awesome as well, and getting to chat with him off line was great. So more coming, new and old, and of course we will try to keep if fun.

hey, looking forward to the full video of the interview. Dude, I was not a fan of the 2nd gto bodystyle, but the fit and finish of THIS car is amazing. i really like the euro style interior too. The sound of the power plant is the best on the carcast to date (only my opinion). So… i take it Adam your gonna get one right? By the way, are you hiding something with your left hand in the photo of you and Jim?

Kudos Adam & Sandy for CarCast, love listening always. Re: Jim Wangers, the man’s place in American automotive history is cast in stone. He is one of the last of the breed of surviving old-school, “git-er-done” pioneers. I have met him three times at various events in the past and a more generous and gracious individual you could not hope to meet. Can’t thank him enough for his contribution not only to Pontiac, but to the whole performance movement. Thanks Adam for spotlighting Jim and please have him back again soon. Oh, and buy or borrow one of those new Goats and record a tear around a track and see if it doesn’t paste a permanent grin on your mug. And to all of those who crack wise about the hair piece, you will all be damn lucky to make it into your 80’s and still look that good, be that involved and mentally vital, AND still give a shit about how you look. Karma’s gonna bite your cheap-shot asses!

That has got to be the best ‘true to it’s origins’ retro project I’ve seen. That think is awesome! Thanks for the podcast Ace…

Good post Gavin Scott. It’s the same old crap on all message boards. A little respect people.

Great car. If I win the lottery, I’d love to have one. Cannot see one thing that I’d change.
