Bodie Stroud and the Scarliner Custom

Bodie Stroud of BS Industries comes by and talks with Adam and Matt about working as a car customizer. They discuss the business of making hot rods and kustoms, as well as building the hot dog car Adam drove (and crashed) in a soap box derby.

Then we move out to the parking lot and check out the immaculate 1960 Starliner, also known as “The Scarliner.” Built by Bodie and BS Industries, The Scarliner is powered by a Ford GT powertrain that makes 550 hp at 6,500 rpm and 500 lb-ft of torque at 3,750 rpm, per Ford specs.

John Spar talks about growing up around drag racing, hanging out with Linda Vaughn, “Big Daddy” Don Garlits and Don “The Snake” Prudhomme. He has also raced in NHRA, AMA, SCROE, BITD and USAC.

John’s company, Stable Imaging Systems, makes RePlayXD cameras. Replay cameras are lipstick-sized cameras that are perfect for motorsports and action sports. They work with Amir Rosenbaum and his 415 mph Spectre Speedliner and George Poteet & Ron Main in their 460 mph Speed Demon.

Dan Edmunds of Edmunds.com

Dan Edmunds is the director of vehicle testing at Edmunds.com. He was a development engineer for Toyota at their proving grounds in Arizona.

Edmunds worked with Ivan Stewart on Toyota’s TRD Off-Road package. He then left Toyota for Hyundai, running the chassis and brake tuning department. Venchurs Vehicles’ Pat Muldoon

Pat Muldoon worked on the Jeep Wrangler Blue Crush, the V-10 Drag-Pack Challenger and the Mopar Ram Runner.

He now works for Venchurs Vehicle Systems, who develops customs and one-off projects, street-legal off-road capable Jeeps and trucks and bi-fuel conversions for Ford light trucks. Bernard Juchli of Jay Leno’s Garage

Jay Leno’s master mechanic Bernard Juchli is this week’s guest on CarCast. Adam Carolla and Matt D’Andria talk with the man behind all of the restorations and maintenance at Jay Leno’s famous Big Dog garage.

Juchli was an aircraft mechanic who later owned and managed a Jaguar maintenance business for 20 years. He’s also a top amateur and vintage race driver. We also talk about his 1961 Flxible [sic] Starliner bus, which he uses as his tow vehicle.
