We take a peek a Amgad’s Lamborghini Contach. He has already begun the transformation in removing some of the antiquated injection and replacing it with equally antiquated but better performing Weber side drafts.

i couldnt help it
You guys say it like we are supposed to know who Amgad is. ???
Adam had an short intro and it got chopped for some reason. Amgad is another of Adam’s old time friends from the neighborhood and was a roommate from the olden days, like Ray and Chris and the Weez. He is just a little more of a regular guy and you won’t find him on a construction set without shoes, or pissing on his sleeping buddies. Amgad is another car nut from his Lambo’s and Aluminum BBC 60’s Corvette, etc.

Hmm, I understood that from Adam saying it! Listen people! Oh and Sandy, I’m going to keep asking about the Hummer thing until I die or you do! Hook a brother up!
Luke –
Don’t you hummer guys take enough of a beating (No pun intended). I think we did chat with Alonzo Boden about it and the MRap, but been a while. 😉

Why is there no video of this countach??? It sounded great… Would have loved to of seen the vid 🙁
It should be up by Sunday morning, if not later on tonight (Saturday)
Sandy
Sunday the 13th?
I’ll let you know tomorrow…
He better of kept the original license plate or at least snorted it.
Amgad appears to be about the same size as me (compared to the pic I took with Ace at the Bald Bryan event), how the hell does he fit in that car? I’m half Italian, so I fit the Italian car short legs/long arms, seat to wheel proportions pretty well, but I don’t fit in a Countach AT ALL. I tried one out at a local dealer when I stopped in to look at a 355 they had for sale, and I don’t think I could have worked the clutch, I was so bent up into a pretzel. I’m 5’11” and 200lbs, so it’s not like I’m odd sized or anything, but my knees were in my chin and my head hit the roof rail. It was the end of an adolescent dream. let me tell you.
I love the finished product, by the way. Very tasteful, at least for a Countach.
Why would you take off the original fuel injection for carbs? Only one reason would be HP. But even if this was increased is it worth the cost/drivability/mileage? Seems to me that going from carbs to fuel inj. was the way hot rodders went.
If you watch the video you’ll see that Amgad detests the old bosch FI that was on this bugger so that’s why he went with the Weber set up. He had a connection with an old weber distributor that had all the odds and ends parts to make it work. He got very lucky when he called Lambo on whether they had the intake that would receive the weber’s as opposed to the FI and he said they had one. They weren’t lying, they only had one or he would have had to probably fabricate the thing.
Where is the video?
I know, I know. The weez is on the last one which is the Lambo video.
Sandy
This is the best Countach I have ever seen. I always hated that big ugly wing. Can’t wait to see the video.
Ok, it’s Up!
Enjoy!
Good to see Adam stays true and keeps the dealer plate on the Audi!
great
Nice! I was wondering when you would get to the Countach. It is such a misunderstood car. Marcello Gandini designed the Miura as well as the Countach, so it’s not like he didn’t know what the hell he was doing. The original 1971 LP500 prototype was sleek and quite groundbreaking for its time. Unfortunately, the original design didn’t allow enough cooling air to get to the engine, so they added the NACA scoops and tacked on ugly air boxes and vents to the rear flanks. I always hated the six little square inset lenses in the taillights as well. The prototype had much cleaner lines, but would have been too costly to produce, since Lamborghini was struggling financially.
Blame Walter Wolf for the fender flares and wings. Although the low profile tires and bigger engine improved performance, all subtlety was lost after sticking all that crap on it. I think it is unfortunate that the Countach has become associated with tacky 80’s rock videos. It really deserves much better.
Adam is always pointing out how the D.O.T. emissions and crash standard add-ons ruin the original intent of these exotic vehicles. To my mind, the Countach is the ultimate example of the original design being lost in translation to a road-worthy government-approved production vehicle. It was always intended to be an uncompromising dream car and sadly, every compromise made it a little less special.
P.S. the reason why the windows can’t roll down any farther than 4 inches is because the angle of the side glass is so extreme in relationship to the door that the glass will hit the inside of the sheet metal at that point. Later Lambos like the Diablo and Murcielago have much more vertical side glass, so they can actually roll down the windows.
I loved this segment.I dont think Adam asked him what he had to give for the car. Did that come up off mike?
I always love it when Adam asks about the weight of the car; it’s funny!
That car is Gay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!………
