Porsche Carrera GT

January 22, 2010

Adam and Sandy check out Dino Crescentini’s awesome Porsche Carrera GT. And just when you think we are going to have to tell you we can’t fire it up for you, Dino gives us the OK to bump start his Porsche super car so you can hear the music of his V10 sing.

These cars are beyond cool. From the build quality to the sound of the exhaust to the quickness of the revs. I thought my Z06 was fast until I got a ride in one of these. Not even close.

Yeah, I figured lazy V10, but it rev’ed like an F1 Car. Amazing to get the live behind the car stereo version. Dino was awesome too, and it just added to the fun that he would even consider allowing us to bump start his super car.

      Scott –

You might be out of luck. I did a bit of poking around on the web and a few places make some of the parts but they were expensive. Also one mentioned that since the compression was pretty high you would have to, of course do the full build to lower the compression, turbo camshaft. Might not be that much of a problem to take a generic kit like you see on Ebay (for other imports) and make up the pipes. Then would be computer, injectors, etc to get it all working. Also you might call around to some of the Porsche wreckers, I think Los Angeles has a few, you might get lucky. Check eBay NOW, I think you might find some of what you’re looking for (5hrs left).

you do realize there is absolutely no point to this podcast if you dont have the video uploaded right? no one wants to listen to someone talk about stuff thats purely visual when you cant see it. how hard is it to upload a video?

    1. Mark

hey jordan, shut your mouth HOLE!

you probably complain about free stuff all the time.
the video will be posted later, this is how it works.

listening to the podcast is awesome
look forward to the video clips
and thank the guys for doing all of this.

Thanks for the car cast guys…. don’t listen to Jordan

      1. Scott

I disagree with jordan’s tone, but the criticism is valid. I go for the CarCast first thing when I get up on Saturday and am dying to hear it. I get very frustrated when it becomes essentially useless without the video, and the video isn’t available. Maybe the CarCast should just come out on Mondays or whenever the production team can be sure they can consistently get it together.

Regarding Top Gear America, has this ever been discussed in depth on the show – such as what happened from beginning until now? I have heard a reference or three, but I would love to know the whole story.

Thanks for the CarCast Adam, Sandy and whoever makes it happen – best podcast going!

      Jordan / Others –

Here is the story (AGAIN). We get the videos up as soon as we can. Given the resources that we have, sometimes we get them up quicker sometimes slower. It is essentially Me and Donny working the back end of the production and he currently the only one doing Video and _ALL_ the rest of Adam’s shows, that includes his regular podcast which is a daily adventure, as well as the Spider and the Henchman, and a couple of others that are just kicking off.

Remember this is a PODCAST with Video and the video will support what we are talking about but we try (sometimes better then others) to make sure the audio can live on it’s own. Do I want the videos up with the Podcast? HELL YES, but at 2am Friday when most people are rolling in from a bar we are working on the show. So at some point you can’t just do it. That is the story.

My sarcastic suggestion would be not to listen to the show until the video is up 😉 All kidding aside we do it as best we can with the given resources.

Thanks for all the incredible content you provide. I wasn’t a car guy at all until I started listening to Carcast because I’m a fan of the daily podcast. Now I’m hooked and find myself taking note of most anything auto related.

I’d love to see Top Gear America with Ace hosting, it’d be a hit.

Mahalo again for the entertainment and information.

        Sandy –

What about having two Carcast podcasts – one audio and one video podcast?

        Keep up the good work.

        Sandy and Adam-

Keep on rockin’. I listen to the regular podcast from Adam, and the Carcast — which is awesome. Neither costs me a GD dime, so I won’t complain that the video takes a while to get here.

  4. Stan

CarCast is great. Thanks. The guy who cannot wait for the video and just has to complain about something may want to just tune out.

  5. Todd Lloyd, DC

Oh man. I forced my wife to listed to the podcast last night, and when they push started the Carerra GT and whipped up a couple of revs, I almost needed a moment to myself. Please Porsche, don’t stop making supercars! And, can you get the Boxster to sound like that?

    Looking forward to Donny’s video.

  6. George

I sent you a message on Skype a few weeks ago but never received a reply. How do I submit questions and ideas?

    1. CarCast Post author

We are all done with skype for the time being. Check the About page and it has info. We (or I) will generally not respond to anything and will stuff it into the idea box. When/If of interest will shoot you an email. You can imagine how much we get, so be kind and don’t feel bad if it’s not in the next show 😉

Enjoyed the podcast, can’t wait for the video.

$20k for a frikkin’ brake job are you kidding me? But hey, if you can afford the car you can afford the hand job….I mean brake….well both probably. I first saw this car with old Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear and in his review he even joked about having to ‘have some time with himself’ in the middle of talking about the Silicon Carbide clutch lol. I felt the same when I saw one parked downtown here in San Diego, what a monster of pure beauty!

Adam mentioned that this was a $350k car in the podcast, but aren’t they closer to a mill?

  8. John

How long was the GT sitting there before you fired it up? Was it stone cold, or was the oil already up to temp? I was listening to the sweet sound of that motor, but couldn’t help but wonder if Dino was getting a little enthusiastic with the revs. My 997 needs a good 5 miles on the road below 3,000 rpm for the oil to get to temp…

  9. AgentOZ

I HATE YOUR VIDEO PLAYER. Please switch to something that actually buffers the video before it stops, or loads completely before playing. AHHH.. But i love you guys. Keep doing the lords work.

    1. Jaybles

Yes, thank you AgentOZ. I wish more fans would speak up about this video system. Drives me insane. I love the podcasts and am a daily listener, but the way the video is streamed ruins Carcast for me.

Here’s a good example of a auto video site that runs without a hiccup: http://videos.streetfire.net
