Hey Adam, from everything I can find and remember, I don’t think VW ever made a carburated Rabbit. I think they all had that shitty fuel injection system with that big vacuum diaphram. They always ran like shit. I don’t remember them using carbs on much of anything after the bug.
Tape on the headlights is required so that the broken glass stays together for easier cleanup by the cornerworkers. It keeps the glass from scattering across the track and reduces the possibility of a cut tire later on in the race.
But the lower lights in the car pictured don’t have any tape. Plastic lenses on those maybe? No idea.
