I called GBE a month or two ago about the V6. I was told the engine and tranny would be in the $25k – $30k range.

    What an F’n joke

Torqueofthetown, New engine programs start with Military builds at my place. Our V6 program is just shipping our first civilian build, its much less expensive now. We have what we call a World Engine currently with special high pressure injection pump and injectors to handle low lubricity, low viscosity JP8 jet fuel as well as 3rd world deisel. These engines are from our first pilot build at VM Motori in Italy and pilot engines are expensive! We are already reducing engine cost on our next build by thousands of dollars.
Our current transmission is a 2014, ZL1 Camaro 6L90 with our custom flywheel housing, 300mm dual clutch torque converter and our trans control electronics are military spec. Our civilian verson is also coming in at a much lower pricepoint. So all told, I sense you just wanted to piss on my shoes judging by your comment. But my military engine cusomers trust their lives to what I build…and that is no F’n joke.

Actually, I was far more disappointed than wanting to piss anyone off. I have a nice old 03 S10 and thought the 3.0 VM diesel would be a match made in heaven….. small block HP, boat loads of torque, great overall performance and awesome mileage as icing in the cake. I knew it wouldn’t be cheap and was expecting the V6 and tranny combo to be in the $15-20k range. But having a price quoted to me of $25-30k really blew me out of water. Hell, for $32k and change I can get a brand spankin new ecodiesel Ram truck (basic tradesman truck) for virtually the cost of what I was quoted for your engine and tranny. I have to say IMHO when GBE prices their engine/tranny combo at basically the price of of a new truck with the ecodiesel 8spd auto………. that pricing to a civilian like me is a a joke. I do hope the price comes down to the point were GBE sells tons of them.

QUESTION: Does GBE have any plans for Ram Ecodiesel products?? Any products for the Cruze diesel ?

I enjoyed hearing about the things that you are doing with diesels and just wanted to recommend a good way to show people the power of you motors, put a Super Turbo motor in a monster truck. I think that would be a good platform to show the power of your diesels.

I don’t get it. Jeep already HAS this engine in the GC, and yet he has no products for it on his site. His original blog post about producing parts for it is from 2012. Where are the parts???

I agree with ya, Adam. Wish we had vocational training in schools. It would do a lot to improve our society on so many levels.

Also, Gale makes me want to switch to a diesel rig!

Military customers like me like a great product just like anybody else. The cost of RD cost a lot of money. Its past on to the customer. The American tax payer is the one paying the bill. I see this all the time from contractor that love America but charge the government (AKA) military/tax payers the bill It make them feel good to say it for the military and its not a small amount. When they should just say its good business to deal with the governments special operation group that has great funding. I’m sure Mr. Banks is a good man but he is a great business man and great business person stays in business. I just hope that he sells a lot of motors to the government so he can lower the price on the civilian version. We are all paying the price, that’s just business. I’d rather give Mr. banks my money then have a piece of junk engine/tranny from some one I (we) don’t trust.
