Not trying to be a dick, folks would come up to me all the time when I was in my 55 give me the thumbs up and say nice 56. it was always sort of a joke. Had to be a typo late at night, beers, more beers. Next time invite me!

Yep, another long day and late night. I was waiting for the images from Donny and just finger fumbled. It was around 2am. Sadly no PBR was involved. And never a problem whey you folks spot something wrogn.

love the carcast, one little thing though the slideshow on the homepage changes too quickly, there isn’t enough time to read the paragraphs. just lettin you know.

To stop it from rolling while reading just put your mouse over the image and it will not roll. You do not have to click and as long as the mouse is over the area it will stay on the same image and text.

I don’t know why 55, 6 and 7 Chevy guys get violent when someone mistakes the car for another year, sounds like the makings of another rant 😉

I don’t know of many other types/years of car when that is true? I’ve been smacked around for getting the 67-69 Camaro wrong in the past, do you know of any others?

    Awesome show Ganz.

Cmon up North sometime the Salmon is fantastic.

Nice 57 chevy if i was the owner i would break some fingers! For the reason of touching the battery and then touching the car all over or maybe Donny did the right thing and wiped everything down as to keep the car in nice shape. You don’t find many stock cars in that nice of shape

Ahh if the owner (Stan’s my Uncle) broke my fingers, then how could he possibly get it to the Car Shows, as I have the only trailer in the family ;).

It a scary nice restoration, and one laced with stories, from the time beginning to end, gathering the parts, building it and all the stuff that goes in to a restoration of this quality could be considered by some maddening.

Hey Sandy, how much do you think this car is worth?

    • CarCast January 14, 2010

I could give the answer that pisses off me and Adam “well it’s worth what ever the market will…” I’ll stop so I don’t have to say it! If it were to go to auction I would guess if the economy was good in the mid to high 100k range. Just a guess might be more. I hope I didn’t hit too low or I’ll be getting a phone call from Stan! I’m not a 57′ guy but I check around at some of the auction houses and Hemmings you might find similar 100 point restored cars and then add in original papers, heavy options, etc. Watch out for ones that are claimed to be done, as I would guess the term Restored can have as much variance in meaning as a ‘good condition’ description on an Ebay(Yes I learned the hard way)

I wanted to see the top go down! My dad had a 61 T-Bird Convertible. What a trip as a kid to see all those mechanisms (trunk lid raise, boot swing out, top fold down in, lid close with those locks spinning into place). Wonderful era for complicated steel.

    • CarCast January 14, 2010

I have had to do the top on the car and it’s a pain, it’s too new but it is a mechanical work of art. And watch those fingers!

  8. Scott January 18, 2010

Given the obsessive numbers-matching perfection of this awesome car, how much do you think it would fetch at auction?

    • CarCast January 18, 2010

See reply under Jeremy P. I think a few are coming up in some of the auctions, also you might check the auction sites as some might show the sale price of cars and you should be able to find 57’s on some of them.
